Ganapati homa
- Addressed to
- Sri Ganapati
- Usually asked for
- Before any undertaking
Sri Ganapati is Vighneśvara — the lord of obstacles, of both the material and the spiritual order — and is invoked first in almost every Vedic undertaking for that reason. The homa is the fire form of that invocation.
Families ask for it at the start of something: a business, a construction, a course of study, a marriage season. It is also performed as the opening rite of a larger ceremony rather than on its own.
Procedure, duration, materials and whether it can be performed in your absence depend on your circumstances, so I discuss those with you rather than list them here. Wording on this page is awaiting my review.

Describe the occasion in your own words — you do not need the Sanskrit name of a ceremony. I will tell you which one applies and what it involves.
